Classic to contemporary

From classic to contemporary

While respecting shaker traditions, we’re not bound by them. From our Surrey showrooms, we design everything from faithful reproductions of traditional shaker designs to modern interpretations.

Many clients are drawn to shaker kitchens precisely because they bridge traditional and contemporary aesthetics. A classic in-frame shaker kitchen with hand-painted cabinetry feels at home in a period property, while the same design in deep navy or graphite instantly feels more contemporary.

Simple, elegant, timeless

Shaker doors hold a timeless allure thanks to their three key aesthetic strengths:

Clean Lines: The perfectly proportioned frame and inset panel create a symmetrical look that’s easy on the eyes.

Simple Elegance: Shaker doors embrace minimalism, free from clutter or unnecessary adornment. This lets their inherent beauty shine through.

Timeless Appeal: The clean, unfussy design ensures your kitchen won’t look dated, making it a smart choice for both long-term homeowners and those seeking resale value.

Embrace the beauty of a Shaker kitchen. Sleek, seamless designs, perfect for modern, high-end homes.  Across Reading, Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey and beyond. Every kitchen is tailored to your space, balancing practicality with a sophisticated aesthetic.

  • A Shaker kitchen is defined by its door: a simple five-piece design with a flat, recessed centre panel framed by four straight edges. The style takes its name from the 18th-century Shaker movement, who valued simplicity, quality and craftsmanship, and that’s why Shaker kitchens look clean, balanced and never go out of fashion. Read more about what Shaker kitchens are.

  • Yes. Shaker is one of the most versatile styles there is. Paired with quartz worktops, integrated appliances and slim bar handles, it feels fresh and contemporary. With wood worktops and cup handles, it leans more traditional. That flexibility is why Shaker works in everything from period cottages to new-build extensions.

  • Shaker suits almost any colour. Soft whites, creams and greys give a light, airy feel, while sage greens, navy and charcoal make a bold statement. Two-tone designs, such as a darker island with lighter wall units, are a popular way to add depth.

  • Cup handles and round knobs give a classic look, while bar handles feel more contemporary. Brushed brass and antique bronze add warmth, and matt black or brushed nickel suit a cleaner, modern finish. Your designer can bring samples to compare against your door colour.
